Rising child pornography in Puerto Rico
Sixteen people have been arrested on child pornography in this Island so far last year. "These cases have in common that they all use the Internet as a means to perpetrate the crime. The cases vary, depending if it is for possession, distribution or production of child pornography:" says Ivan Ortiz. Indicated that most are for possession, but lately we have prosecuted people for production and distribution, as well as by inducing minors to some sexual activity.
Ortiz noted that most sexual predators posing as minors and earns the trust of their victims through social networking and Internet chat rooms. The psychologist call this problem and trafficking in general as "big business profit" to indicate that there are at least two international organization that traffic in child pornography links in Puerto Rico.
